The woman and the camera
From the 21st of November, we can check out the 16th Forumdoc.bh.2012, Documentary and Ethnographic Film Festival Belo Horizonte. The Festival, one of the most important worldwide, brings each year, an extensive program of films, debates, seminars, workshops for documentary and ethnographic films.
In this year’s edition, among other highlights, the festival will bring a special showcase about feminist cinema. The exhibition entitled “The woman and the camera” has the curatorship of Cláudia Mesquista and Carla Maia, and presents films from renowned filmmakers such as Agnés Varda, Chantal Akerman and Naomi Kawase. Besides theses exhibitions, the festival will hold debate forums on the women’s role in contemporary cinema, with the presence of important directors and thinkers of the Brazilian and International scenario.
Marília Rocha participates in the exhibition/seminar with screenings of her most recent film Like water through stone, and also takes part in a debate round table on women in Brazilian cinema. The exhibition will be followed by the debate and will take place on the 28th of November, at 7pm, at Cine Humberto Mauro.
