Lives and works in Belo Horizonte. Holds a degree in social communication from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais and has dedicated herself to audiovisual production since 2005. She has been a member of Teia since 2010, developing projects and producing shorts, features and installations in partnership with the group’s filmmakers.
Graduated in Social Communication at UFMG and Post-Graduate in New Technologies and Hypermedia in UNI-BH, as well as workshop taught at universities in Belgium and France, Leonardo Barcelos has directed and wrote the script for a series, one feature film and six short films. His works were exhibited in more than 40 countries and awarded in several important national and international festivals. His first feature film “Shaky but Steady“, released in 2012, achieved a significant career in festivals.
His films and videos have participated and won awards in several national and international festivals which include: Rotterdam, Locarno, San Sebastian, BAFICI, FID Marseille, Munchen, Indie Lisboa, Miami International,Encounters-Bristol, Sao Paulo, Havana, Valdivia, Thessaloniki, New Horizons and others. He was awarded the short silence as best film of debutant director at the 9th Festival Luso-Brasileiro de Cinema de Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, with the average Mira Festival's All True, São Paulo, with the prize acquisition DirecTV, with short close to Home as best film award (the public) in CineEsquemaNovo and P sky on his shoulders as best film, direction, screenplay, assembly and special jury prize - cast at the 43rd Festival de Brasília, as best film at the 29th International Festival Uruguay and the special jury prize at the 7th International Panorama of Bahia, is the author of the Guerilla Nuclear pacifist and talking (Ed. Orbital Manga-Poetry Collection) and Solar (Ed. Seal Editorial).
